Frequently asked questions
Q1. Is there a separate entrance exam for RGUKT in 2026?
No, RGUKT does not conduct a separate entrance exam for its 6-year integrated B.Tech program. The entire selection process is merit-based, relying strictly on the GPA or total marks obtained in your Class 10 (SSC) board examinations.
Q2. What is the Deprivation Score, and who gets it?
The Deprivation Score is a unique system designed to level the playing field for rural students. A weightage of 0.4 GPA (effectively a 4% score boost) is added to the 10th-grade scores of students who completed their studies in Government, Zila Parishad (ZP), or Municipal schools. Students from private corporate schools do not receive this score.
Q3. Can students from other states apply for RGUKT?
Yes. While approximately 85% of the seats are reserved for local candidates from the respective states (Andhra Pradesh or Telangana), RGUKT allocates supernumerary seats specifically for out-of-state students, as well as international applicants.
Q4. What is the age limit for RGUKT 2026 admissions?
For candidates belonging to the General, OBC, and EWS categories, the maximum age limit is 18 years. However, to support marginalized communities, SC and ST candidates are granted an age relaxation, making their upper age limit 21 years.
Q5. How much is the application fee?
The application fees are subsidized to keep the process accessible. Generally, OC and BC candidates pay INR 400, while SC and ST candidates pay INR 250. Out-of-state candidates applying through the AP portal are charged an application fee of INR 1,000.
Q7. When will the RGUKT 2026 application process start?
Timelines vary slightly by campus. For the Telangana (Basar) campus, applications are expected to open in mid-March 2026. For the Andhra Pradesh campuses (Nuzvid, RK Valley, etc.), the application window typically opens in the first week of May 2026. Always check the official admissions portal for exact dates as they approach.
